Profile: After leaving high school Richard Kinsella studied for four years at the Glasgow School of Art. He studied Visual Communications with a specialty in Graphic Design. This course put an emphasis on the designer’s responsibility as an image maker and the influence good design can have on its viewers. The course gave him the opportunity to exhibit work in Glasgow, London and Beijing, as well as obtaining commissions for logo designs in China. After graduating he moved to the art island of Naoshima in Kagawa’s Seto Inland Sea to teach English to the island’s population. Japan’s vibrant visual culture has influenced much of his work both in the UK and in Japan.
